my mates van another problem he bought a t3 camper van 300 mile away but when coming home the clutch was slipping so a
new clutch, seals, bearing sleeve fitted by a trusted local vw specialist who does know his stuff i use him to .
clutch went in drove fine for 10 miles then slipping is noticed some times when going up hill, this has gradually got worse the bitting point is 90% up the travel as soon as you touch the throttle slip back off gentle gentle no slip
i never drove my mates t3 but compared to mine the biting point is to far up
clutch problem

clutch problem
replaced slave cylinder all seals spigot bearing everything that can go wrong been done before install of new clutch
cant see any evidence of oil contamination on flywheel it looks bone dry
what next apart from drop the gearbox anything else to check as all seals etc were done when gearbox went back in garage cleanedup flywheel etc could the clutch be faulty as has slipped since it went in after 10 miles of work was done at a very trusted vw audi porsche garage who knows his stuff just my friend cant afford the £45 an hour they charge hence why were looking for ideas.
the bite is not so grabbing as a standard clutch never was to me feels like an old worn clutch since it was fitted
he supplied clutch and parts they done the fitment so dont know where he stands ref warrenty work ?

Re: aaz clutch black diamond problem
if the flywheel has been refaced was the mounting surface for the clutch pressure plate similarly skimmed ?
How much free motion at the master cylinder push rod is there ? Is there free play at the clutch fork lever arm when released
Which clutch is fitted and which flywheel ? Normally one uses the T3 diesel flywheel and clutch when fitting an AAZ, 215mm

standard jx flywheel not refaced was cleaned up have pictures from yesterday but dont know how to post ,
using a brand new black diamond clutch jx 215mm one ,
i really dont know what play is at master cylinder,
yes free play at clutch fork and arms were not bent or anything ,
clutch was fine before change to black diamond only changed because of oil contamination due to spiggot bearing not fitted
no oil leaks,
your help is greatly appreciated

Re: aaz clutch black diamond problem
We've done an AAZ recently, van was a 1.6TD Oettinger.
We've swapped the 1.6TD for the 1.9TD.
With the tweaks that Oettinger had done to the pump, turbo and charge cooler the engine was too powerful for the 6 month old Sachs clutch.
We fitted the 228mm TDI set up instead.
Works perfectly now.
Have you checked what boost the engine is running?
Maybe the engine is too powerful for the clutch?
