Post by dwt25 »

Typical Friday afternoon breakdown. van is coughing and spluttering when pressing the accelerator. suspect it is the distributor. I have a 2ltr air cooled cu type engine. Somebody said, " maybe time to change out for new type electronic distributor.
which one though?
any ideas would be very welcome. :

Also: what is a 009 type distributor?
Kind Regards

When it was made it was fitted with an electronic distributor and the best one for the engine.
009 distributors are centrifugal advance only distributors intended for constant speed industrial engine or higher revving engines not really that good for road use.
The original electronic distributor is very reliable more often it is the ignition amplifier is at fault.
Best to check it out properly to find the fault rather than play parts darts.
