jx injection pipes arrangement

Post by hedgejumper »

Hi all, its me again, not having much luck with my engine. It now starts , only just and then on full throttle. It coughs and jumps about and sounds terrible.
Spent the day with a mechanic friend who checked the timing, checked fuel supply and tried moving the cam belt a tooth either way with no luck. Also double checked that the injection pump was not 180 degrees out, all okay.

The only thing left to suspect seems to be the injection pipe connection arrangement, specifically the order. If i remember rightly before the pump was removed the fuel pipes were all parallel and close to each other and the anti vibration clamp fitted easily. As can be seen from my photo they are now mis-aligned, although the firing order seems correct 1, 3, 4, 2.

I am tempted to try refitting the pipes one place along and see what happens.

See page 97 of this, it takes a while to load so bare with it. The firing order for the petrol is 1,4,3,2 but I couldn't find it in here for diesel. Most conventional 4 cylinder engines have a 1,3,4,2 firing order.

On page 97 is a exploded diagram of the pipes in correct order. I'm sure it will help

Hello mate, when i was refitting my pump and pipes i was unsure which way they went back on as i hadn't marked them, i posted my query on here, Simon Baxter kindly replied with they only go on one way, on refitting i found this was the case, unless you've got any pipes very twisted or really had to force them on i'd say they are where they should be, and the problem is something else.
