twin 45 inlet manifold gaskets

Post by lordbrown »

Hi,

I had to remove my carbs on my 2ltr cu today to do various bits. they are twin 45 dells with empi manifolds.

One side has a plastic type spacer/gasket but the other side didn't? Is this an issue? should both sides have this?

Also what gaskets do i need to fit them back on? does it need the metal type and the fibre type? or what?

bit confused on how it should all go together as both sides where different.

Could some one point me in the right direction please, or to the direction of an exploded digram of how it should all go back together properly.

thanks in advance

Webcon or eurocarb for parts. Think they have exploded diagrams as well.
Sounds like one side has bakelite spacer, stops or prevents heat soak from head warming the fuel.
Fibre washers.

Been a long long time since I've meddled with air cooled but IIRC none of mine ever had them.

Putting them on isn't going to do any harm though, will only be of benefit.

If you fit them , fibre gasket on each side :ok

ah, lovely job. cheers mate.

was thinking it would need a gasket either side of the spacer, but got thrown off by both sides of my carbs having different gaskets and spacers and god knows what else.

i can only find the spacers for the type 4 injection models so might leave them out and just fit the metal inlet gaskets.
