Beside myself!

Post by jonnyoffcas79 »

Hi guys not the first post I've done, most of my posts have been for parts on my doka25. I really love the old girl and so far we have spent a fortune on her to get it to the spraying stage. I knew what sort of money I would have to spend (ish) but alot of trades have let me down in a big way.

I paid 2grand for the van and it came with an aaz engine which had supposed to have been rebuilt but haddent. On picking the van up she seemed clean and easily repairable body wise and the engine seemed to purr so with a short test drive I bought it. On the way home the fuel gauge, van temp, went down and the the oil light came on. In the services I noticed the water boiling bubbling and she were shooting oil from the dip stick, we cooled her down and limped home dispit this is was in my element in a 25 again!

We had her checked and she had no thermostat and there was oil dripping from were the head gaskets sits. I had the head removed to find at least 7 cracks in it. A brand new one was purchased along with cam oil lifters the full mashing water pump timing kit the lot. It took the guy 4 months to get the van back to me saying that other jobs kept creeping in, so to keep cost down he did it in his spare time. The van is now back in my possession runs mint but he was unsure of the wiring he said he hasn't the time to sort it and usure of the differences on conversion. I am determined to get this sorted out. Is there anyone out there familiar with 1.6td to 1.9 aaz td in Yorkshire willing to help. She gets her body done soon and I'm pooing my pants thinking of it overheating again. Please guys this ones for keeps 2 adults 3 kids 2 dogs 1 rabbit and a bloody fish are counting on this 999?! Cheers Jonny the depressed!!!!

That sounds like an utter mare mate! Did you ever have a chat with the person who sold it to you - just to find out 'anything else you should be aware of !'
Good luck

Can't help with your electrics mate but good luck.

I'm sorting my aaz out from a van I purchased in November, my first t25. Mine never had a thermostat in either! Some cowboys and dodgy sellers out there!
