Help, my 2ltr cu smells like its getting hot not sure if its the layers of dust its collected from the body shop or the thermostat flaps.
The thermostat cable has snapped, and I want to wire the the flaps open for the time being but I am unsure what way the bar needs to go?
Pulled towards the roof of the van? Towards the floor or stay in the middle?
Thanks

Re: themostat flaps
The bar for the flaps should be spring-loaded. If the cable breaks the spring holds the flaps open. Here's the link to Ratwell's guide to thermostats if it helps?

cheers but i cant find that post?
i managed to find this though which i think has answered my question. https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=116418" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
My fail safe spring is also broken by the looks of things, so ive used a cable tie around the where the thermostat cable would attach to the flap bar, and attached it so its pulling the bar towards the rear of the van..... if that makes sense?

Thats right the lever should be vertical when the flaps are open.
