Post by Gone-Westy »

I have Continental 185R14C tyres fitted on my westy camper. What pressure should they be?

Tyre Pressure for different loads

Post by MacAoidh »

I've always wondered:

I do a lot of driving with an empty van; no pop-top etc, very minimal camper conversion. When I do have a load on it's usually quite limited, always on the floor towards the front.

Would it make sense to have a bit less tyre pressure at the rear, topping it up when carrying a load?

If you notice uneven wear on the tread...ie more wear in the middle, then reduce the pressure by 10 psi.
the standard pressures given I would think maintain a happy medium :D

My 'velle (8 seat bus) runs 43psi front and 55psi rear (factory spec), empty or full... no uneven tyre wear... and done 100k mile on those pressures...
I would stick to stock settings, 10 psi is a lot to take out...
