What's wired to your Lesuire battery?

Post by roozle »

Howdy,

I have dometic fridge, lighting, aux cig port, tap water pump AND stereo head unit connected.

The first four items are obvious but Since I bought it I have wondered if this normal to have the head unit wired as well? My concern is as multiple daily short journeys (4-8 miles or so) - would this be enough to charge the lesuire battery on going whilst listening to Cliff Richard :rofl (ahem I mean top-tunes)??

Ciao for now
Cheers to gears !

While your driving the alternator is powering everything, its only going to draw power from the battery if you use these items while parked

Even the 45amp alternator (which is the smallest VW fitted) will keep up with discharge (as long as that head unit isn't also connected to a 1000Watt Amp) lol.
The worry is always how much current is being used whilst parked up camping....at least this way you leave the starter battery untouched leaving it ready 'to start' whenever its needed.
