5 Cylinder Tacho mods

Post by crazydiamond »

Well here's a strange one? I have a Syncro with 5 cylinder audi petrol engine. Its wired to the standard (I think) 4 cylinder tacho. Hence it reads 25 percent high. Now i'n no electrical wizard, so I think the easiest solution will be to make a new face,. Has anyone done this, or does anyone have a drawing of face dimensions? Someone used to do new faces on here, cant remember who. :ok
ie
READING RPM ACTUAL RPM
...1000...........,,,800
....2000............1600
....3000............2400
....4000............3200
....5000............4000
....6000............4800
....7000............5600
....8000............6400

Figs based on the assumption that 5 pulses per rev instead of 4 pulses per rev. :ok

I used to do new dash faces but only for the 4 cylinder engines, why not just send your guage away to speedy cables and get it re calibrated

Thanks Faggie, Its the rev counter not speedo, but have you got the cad or drawing sizes, I can do the artwork (badly probably) but otherwisse I have to rely on memory or a bit of paper telling me RPM?
