Accelerator cable replacement

Post by G Dub52 »

Hello,

My friend has asked me to help him change his accelerator cable as his old one is abit worse for wear and keeps sticking.

I could not find on the search bar if anyone has done a post on replacing this but does anyone have any tips or advice to make it go abit smoother?

It's a 1.9 DG is that makes any difference.

Thank you :)

My van seems to be reving high at idle but if you pull on the cable from the carb end there is a little slack that comes through and the revs drop.

Either my cable is stiff (old) or the return spring has got weak.

Thinking I might put a new cable on - is this a legnthy job (don't tell me about 3 meters :D ) or a bit like replacing a bike cable on a bike?

bike cable basically yes. In fact on the first T25 I owned I fitted a mongel engine and couldn't find a cablle to match so bought yards of cycle cable and cut everything to fit. Worked perfect. The outer can corrode and that can impair movement quite a bit.
