Seriously? How would you protect the front end in an accident?

Not to mention it being a major mod and discovering that you are not insured. VW did many, many tests to come up with that design. Its not there for fun. The front section is designed to absorb some of the impact in a front end shunt (part of the deformation element) and protect you and any passenger. Gleaned I should think, from lessons learnt on the Type2.

not being funny bud but this is something that is done on minis and there build of those cars are dog "pooh"....the section on the front is hollow and not very thick hit it with a hammer and bends very easy.....beetles have thin crap metal as bumpers and run without them so surely that would be worst no.????

Oh well, all the tests by VW have been a total waste of time then.

I think you'll struggle to find anyone that will back your train of thought.

Beetles don't weigh nearly 2 tonnes.

Beetles do have about 2 1/2 feet of crumple zone that T25's don't

Ask your insurers & VOSA if they are happy with you removing a structural section of your van to make it look cool.

i think what your missing is, if you remove the bumper from a beetle it's just the bumper blade. If you remove the bumper and deform panel from a T3 your removing the crash protection. Also it is meant to deform (you say about hitting it with a hammer) it's called a deformation panel. But, it's your van and your legs (in a crash). So your choice really..

Get a brain, read the construction and use regulations and, as said, inform VOSA and your insurers - you may well lighten up so much that you will be sitting on a little cloud strumming your harp! :rofl

For different read dangerous.

I really don't give a toss what you do to your van. I've always been a Darwin fan.

Don't be such a numbskull. Which of the names are your parents? If they were a name I would have expected a better standard of education of their offspring!

We're not purists, folk do lots of mods. But theres a difference between a mod and altering the structural integrity of a vehicle to the detriment of yourself and others. We'd be negligent if we didn't point this out. If you're not sharp enough to see it in that light, no one can help you. You cut away. :rofl
