Help! Uncomfortable Seats!

Post by Vdubz1 »

Hi!

I have a vw t25 from 1990. While the seats (with arm rests) look in great condition, after a few hours of driving, my partner and I both get back pain even though he's tall and I'm small! ... After a day of driving, we were both in agony for a good few days afterwards! Does anyone have any experience with what could be the problem? I've heard people say wonderful things about the comfort of pilot seats... We're wondering why we're not experiencing the same joy!

Although the seats look in good condition, does anyone think perhaps we need to have the seats re-foamed? They feel nice and soft when you first sit in them... It's after an hour or so that you start feeling the pain.

Alternatively, are we perhaps better off just putting in new seats? Does anyone have any experience of this or know where I could find seats which could slot in? I've been researching a few different seats but they all seem to involve a lot of work/welding to fit them to a T25... Anyone know any seats which would be relatively straight forward to fit in?

Thanks so much!

I found mine really comfortable on long runs and I do have back problems I drove a mates Sprinter 10 miles and I could barley stand up so I guess it depends on how you adjust your seats? I have Alfa leather seats now and they are even better. :ok

Porsche tombstones are a very comfy seat. Pretty straight forward to fit. Drill spots out of old runners and put porker runners in. Simple as :ok

I read on here recently that someone had found that a certain model of Volvo sears slide straight onto the VW runners.
I put Volvo in the search box but it came up with nowt :?

(Is the "search" function on our website working properly I wonder?)

So I took off the front passenger seat today to have a look at what work would need done... Am I right that Saab seats come with runners already? Are they the same size as the seats in the T25s? So could I just unbolt the rails already on the Saab seats and reposition them to make them the correct width to slot on to the camper? :idea

It does sit you up a fair bit...but I have long dangley legs...I like a on it driving position as well, runners are flat bottomed, inner sits on top of existing seat rack, outer is sat on the rubber arch mat...the airbags are wired to a door bell button on the front bumper...

Will get pics...
