Quick Glow question?

Post by Jim D »

Hi Everyone,

just a quick question,

when i bought my van it didn't have the glow plugs connected. That part of the engine is from a 1.9 AFN., i managed to source the connectors for the glow plugs from another car at a scrappy. What i want to know is can i just connect these to the big red glow wire??

thanks

You can. Though it would be easier to connect the red wire to one glow plug with a ring terminal, and then radially to the other glow plugs.

Excellent,

Thank you very much for the reply. My plan is to just strip then ends if the cables, braid them as one then tie to the end of the red wire.

Thanks again

I would double check that you have the correct plugs & wiring to suit the relay: (you can see below there is a differing current draw and differing relays)

Ah, thank you oldie but goodie, I didn't think about this. I can only guess that the relay in the van is the original and perhaps I'll need need to get the new one.

If the glow plugs stay on for longer I.e. Slow glow system, but does require it, could that do damage to the engine?

More investigation is need then.

Thanks

AFN engines use the same glow plugs as original CS/JK/KY engines.
