No indicator lights on dash, TDI install

Hi all, I have installed a 1.9tdi 1z from a 94 golf, pre immo, into my t25, wicked motor, had it running nice then couldn't get out of 4th,,,,,gearbox out, circlip fallen off on input shaft, whilst box was out I thought I may as well route the wiring properly and remount the fuse box, all good, now I need to connect dash indicator lights, oil pressure, temp, glow plug light, should be easy,,,,,, plug in golf clocks to check which wires to connect to, clocks work, mileage appears, but I don't have any indicator lights, when I turn the ignition on I can hear the glow plug relay click and a click from the engine, and it clicks off again as it should, so I believe the glow plugs to be working.

Been over the whole loom 5 times, all earths are connected, all plugs are connected, in the right plugs I believe, it has me stumped, my next move is to connect to a wire from the loom out of the engine, but will it affect the ECU if I cause voltage drops?

The long term plan is to wire the whole van through the golf fuse box, for now I just want to be able to tell the glow plugs are on, what temperature the engine is, that I have oil pressure, you know simple stuff that shouldn't take this much head scratching to sort out.

So far the fuse board runs the engine, it only has the plugs connected to run the engine and fuses to suit, the starter is run directly from the ignition, not out of the fuse board, and the ancilleries are run through the van fuse box, so questions

1. Why don't I have temp glow oil pressure indicator lights on the dash?
2. If I connect to the sender wire where in the loom is best to connect, engine to ECU, ECU to fuses?
3. Is there another plug that needs to be plugged in to power the sensors/indicator circuit?
4. Where can I buy petrol and matches!!
