To all the 2ltr auto's
When I start my auto Aircooled it will tick over nicely no racing. However when I have driven it for a bit and it has warmed up. Every time I select N or P the engine races away. If I pepper the throttle the revs rise, but dont fall instantly it seems to need time to settle down.
I know the tick over should be set a little highy than manual engines, but is this normal if not any solutions please.
thanks

Mine's the same-2ltr Aircooled auto-and mine revs it little nuts off too, although only when I first start it up. It takes a good 5 minutes to settle down. I try and dab the throttle a bit to try and slow it down, as I'm assuming it's the auto choke on mine, but that seems to increase the revs. It's like I'm on the starting line on the drag strip. I think it's just the auto choke on mine. Have you checked the throttle linkage bar that goes across the engine? The ball joints at the ends may be a bit sticky and the return spring may not be able to pull it all the way back. Mine are also a little loose in the sockets too, so I might try sorting them out to see if that makes a difference to mine.
