sealing caravelle windows
Hi, ive recently had my 1985 caravelle sprayed including replacing all seals with oem. It has the original genuine sliding windows.
While the windows were out. They sprayer had them tinted for me. Since its return they have leaked like a sieve. Ive replaced the brush seals and tried creeping crack cure to no avail. The water is still coming through. It's coming through the joints in the frame, between the frame and seal and between the seal and the aperture.
Im at my wits end with this now.

Re: sealing caravelle windows
Creeping crack cure works by capillary action - anything larger than a hair's width it will have no effect upon. Other than that all I can think of is - wrong seals? Was the profile exactly the same as the old ones? Was the correct chrome strip profile used (as this tends to tighten up the joins)?

I'm not 100% sure that the profile was the same, as I was away when it was done, I ordered them from gunzl, so assumed they would be spot on. I didn't want the chrome strip so ordered the seals without trim.
Is there any kind of sealant that could be used?

Re: sealing caravelle windows
I found that the filler strip tightened everything up and made the good seal. I thought all Caravelles had the chrome strip version so I wonder if that was the correct seal then. Maybe Metalmick8y knows more.

Re: sealing caravelle windows
Maybe, I thought it was just a different seal, and the only size difference was the year?

use windscreen sealant so you can guarantee they don't let water behind seal and rot frame out

Re: sealing caravelle windows
As it is both sides it seems more that they are the wrong seals to me.
