QUIETEST HEATER FOR USE WITH NO HOOKUP I.E WEBASTO ETC

Post by christofy »

Looking to buy a heater for my bus. I want something I don't need a hookup for like a webasto etc as I had a gas heater in my devon which was great but quite noisey.

Does anyone know what the quietest heaters are and views on weather or not to go with gas or could I run something from my fuel line (petrol). Have to say I dont know how keen I am burning petrol though out the night but I have no gas in the bus as it is a caravelle with a westy poptop and factory r&r bed, Although I would have no problem installing one if needed.

Cheers Chris

I have seen in campers (rarely) and caravans (commonly) a sort of domestic gas fire type convector and/or radient heater. Silent operation and vents exhaust out the floor. Think Carver made them?

Yes a carver heater is by far the quietist.
I have a webasto and can honestly say when it reaches the temp set on the thermostat it cycles down to a whisper, and stays there.
It pumps 4Kw of heat into the van when started up and is a bit noisy, but it doesn't last long, because it cycles down to 1.6Kw and 1/3 the fan speed

Thanks for replying. I had a look on eBay at a few and they seem massive at 500x550 by I think 170mm high if I remember rightly. Do they come in smaller sizes?

We have Eberspacher D2 s in both vans. Once up to temp they're pretty quiet. Never disturbed us.

As above, two eber d2's in each van,, however i fitted a new propex heatsource HS2000 v2 in a friends van over christmas, and you know what, its quieter than an eber,,,no fuel pump helps, but essentially the intake and exhaust noise is actually quieter too :ok

Riviera deluxe underfloor heater is silent. No pumps, fans etc. Just a convection heater, and brilliant, if you can find one!

Ive a propex for hot air and a webasto thermotop for hot water, if you install them in proper boxes with the right mounts both are pretty quiet.

Cheers
