Knocking from standing start

Post by JNW »

If I drop the clutch a bit too quickly with a bit too much throttle I hear a knock - one or two from the back somewhere.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Wasserboxers 'SIT' on their engine mountings (four of them, two different kinds) so it is difficult to see if the 'metalastic' rubber/metal mount has parted company. Very common issue, about £50 for all four and just over an hour to fit (although the top 13mm nuts can be awkward to get to).
Yes..the gearbox nose mounting (towards the centre of the van) also go but my bets on the engine mountings.

I have exactly the same issue with a new installed exhaust banging against body on startup due to engine mount rubbers going. Anyone have any idea who stocks these rubber mounts? Seems BW are out of stock.

Everyone...Euro Car Parts, Car Parts 4 Less, GSF, VW Heritage, Just Kampers or bay of thieves. All fit but I have heard some can need work to line up etc.
Spread the load with a nice bit of wood...take the weight off the engine...it will become immediately apparent as you see the mounts (rubber & metal brackets) come apart.
