Thinking about replacing my current engine. I have a 1990 1.9L DG WBX engine with an AUTO gearbox. Will a engine from manual fit easily enough?
I assume an automatic flywheel would be needed, but what about fitting to the existing auto gearbox bell housing?
What if any thing else would i need to consider?
Cheers

All you will need to do is fit your auto drive plate in place of the flywheel on the replacement engine. You should however c heck the endfloat at this point before adding the shims and change the o-ring in the end plate hub. End float should be between 0.08 mm and 0.15 mm with the shims in place. (mine is set to 0.14) as this was the closest I could get with the shims available. (vw heritage and brickwerks do them). It will then bolt right up to your auto box and bellhousing.

Re: auto/manual engine swap
remember NEVER remove the torque converter from the gearbox!
dont even move it out 3mm!
if you do expect to fit a new gearbox!

OK, didn't know that. Why? Is it sinmply a seal for the ATF or is there a seal or somthing more vital behind it ?
