cup and ball on gear linkage

Right I am about to replace mine and the bush that holds it in place as it keeps popping out and sticking in most gears. I have read you need to put the washers that hold the ball on to the gear selection pin in the right place and in the right order ....which is?

there should only be one washer which is slightly bigger diameter and thicker than a normal washer N 900 333 01 is VW's part number
use a new M8 nylock nut
