Viking pop top gas struts.

Post by Leggy »

Hello,

I have a unfinished project viking pop top. I was fitting the gas struts to the top, the outer two were easy to work out but I'm not sure how the middle one fits at the bottom.
Any advice or even some pics would be great.

Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve (and Fisz)

Welcome to the club - good to see a couple more Viking owners.

This earlier thread should help with the centre strut. Note that not all Viking roofs have this centre strut - mine doesn't for instance - but maybe those without have stronger struts at the ends.

Thanks for the help and offer of photos. I think the strut just slides in the lower channel. I will try to make something and see how it goes.

My 1 has the 3 struts & have just recently replaced them all as the 2 outside 1's were gasless & the middle 1 was disconnected & seized solid.
The middle 1 slides in the channel & is a good idea because it helps in a 2 stage type of way....
Just make sure when you fit your new rear strut that the top roof bracket is good, i have been cutting mine out today as the cheap ply fibre glassed in the roof had turned to mush....its been leaking thro the chrome roof rail.....you have all been warned......
