Brake lights/indicators problem

When I indicate, my brake lights flash erratically, the left indicator sometimes flashes when the right one is switched on and vice versa. All the lights are very dim constantly.

Any advice on where to start? Cheers.

1981 T25 2 litre air cooled.

This sounds like a bad Earth somewhere.
Check all your Earth connections on your lights, both front and rear.
Hope you get it sorted.
