I've started having a problem finding reverse and second gear. All the other gears are fine, it just baulks and won't go in. Am i right assuming this is a linkage problem. Sometimes it goes straight in without a problem. I had a quick look at the cup & ball and linkage, the ball moves about 1mm in the cup and the linkage back bearing has about 1mm of play in it. The rubber boot cover is perished. I am assuming this is not excessive. Any ideas as to what else it may be ?
