Guys,
Confused of Norwich here.
My alternator light came on last Thursday, just as I was getting ready to hit The Breeze. I managed to borrow an alternator off a friend, but it was one like I have on my Mk1 Golf with M8 and M5 connectors. The top hole has a screw thread and has a larger cross section which affects how the adjusting bracket sits. I believe it's the Valeo pattern?
My original alternator is a Lucas/Bosch style with euro plug on back. 55amps. Has a smaller cross section on top bracket hole and needs a nut and bolt right through to adjust. Looks just the same as the one in the Haynes manual.
I replaced the voltage regulator today, but to no avail, so convinced the alternator is kaput.
Question is, does anyone know if the Lucas/Bosch type of alternator pattern comes as a 90amp variant rather than the 45/55/65 amp ones please?
Which Alternator?

Re: Which Alternator?
I don't think so..
But You can adapt your existing wire ends to suit any alternator.
they are standard connectors..
I am wondering why you need to have a 90 amp alt.
do you run a high output amplifier or have gazzillion watt headlights
A higher rated alt won't change much, your 55 amp. alt is quite sufficient
changing the regulator to a 14.5v will.
I went from a 45 to a 90.. saw no improvements.
But It did help when I fitted some high power driving lamps, the DVD and TV plus a 50 watt surround sound..and turned them all on
