Jx td engine advice

I've recently had my engine refurbed but it's been using around a litre of oil per 1000 miles. The oil pressure is fine and compression tests show 340 to 360 psi. There's no noticeable oil smoke from the exhaust but there is some diesel smoke when you put the throttle down. The garage have suggested the turbo should be replaced. I've no reason to doubt this but having just spent a few grand sorting the engine out was hoping for a cheaper outcome this time!

Has anyone any ideas of something that could be wrong?
