Spare wheel - where to put it?

Post by SYNCRO-VIKING »

I would like to put on the front bumper, as seen in a couple of photos on Syncronauts - I mean, it is the obvious place, is it not?
More room inside, nothing heavy on the roof, and nothing blocking access to opening tailgate plus checking water and oil at the back.
BUT - will it not interfere with engine cooling? Maybe a positive during the winter but what about hot summers or trips to places like Turkey and Morocco?

If no cooling problems, then how to do it? Are there ready made kits available?
I am not a fan of bullbars and suchlike and always prefer the simplest solution to a given problem -
(probably the only useful thing I learnt from 20 years as a software writer...).

Id have thought the hottest your engine will get is stuck in traffic so as long as its not hard against the grill and there is a good gap air should be drawn through with the fan as normal if I remember when the fan cuts in the air is blown out the front from under the van opposite to while moving

I suppose there is only one way to find out don't think it would be wise to use a tyre cover

May even help a little with shade :D

The Rowan Syncro Ambulances had their spares on a bullbar 3-4 inches from the grille.

Ours never suffered cooling due to this gap.
