Heater fan motor squeeky - how easy to get at ?

Post by ghost123uk »

My heater fan motor is squeeky.
I am sure a bit of grease on the bearings will cure it.
BUT - how easy to get at ?
Do I go at it from inside, by removing the big plastic panel, or is it easier to look from the outside behind the grill ?

1.9 water cooled by the way.

there is only one way to it, remove the dash, and split the heaterbox, which you can on some, and not on others, some are stuck, some clipped, and age isnt always the defining factor ime
although sqirting wd throu the inlet stopped mine for a while...but it stank

Oh flippin heck - I might have known it !!

I had a nasty feeling it might not be a 2 minute job.

Had this on a Hillman Hunter GLS ( V Nice, fast car btw ) but on that managed to figure out where to drill a lil hole in the heater box to get an aerosol squirty pipe in, to apply some spray grease. Worked on that, now I wonder...

Off to look at ETKA, to see the pics, same trick might be possible ?

A random thought I had the other day was it 'might be possible to put an inline blower to suck the air out of the box rather. I think you can get such things for boats and I have a vague recolection of them benig made for boosters on a Bay's pants heating system. just a thought.
