2.1 dj or ss

Post by Big Bear »

Hi all,

I'm going to be replacing my engine due to failure of current 2.1 SS lump.

Question is if I buy a more powerful 2.1 DJ will this work as a direct replacement to the SS or will I need to do loads of other stuff.

Looking at a Vege engine.

Any help or info appreciated.

To change engine and get the best out of it you will also have to change the electronics and ancilliaries, ie you want the DJ engine loom, ECU, idle controller, distributor and vacuum hoses and run superplus petrol if running 10 degree timing, if running 5 degree timing on supermarket probably little better than the SS, which if decatted and in good shape is perfectly adequate and cleverer ECU slightly cleaner and engine slightly less stressed

Hi Aidan,

Thanks ever so much mate. Just what I needed to know. My SS is already running decatted so sounds like sticking to an SS is gonna be the way to go.
