Power steering pipe

Post by saviogimmi »

Got a leak!!! Small pin hole on the high pressure pipe coming off the pump. Question is can I get a hydraulic pipe company to repair it, using the original fittings, has anyone had this done? As I can't find a new one anywhere

We have things like this done all the time at work ... but that is for plant not road vehicles. Any good hydraulic factors should be able to swage a joint in.

What is the rest of the pipe like? especially the section running down from the engine bay. Are you just wanting a sticking plaster or a proper job?

I 've had this problem. I did a tempary repair useing 10mm copper heating pipe. As the compression joint olives are made from copper as opposed to brass, they caan easilly take up the tiny difference in diamaters. Cost next to nothing, was a piece of cake and that was two years ago.

Right put the pipe on tonight and I have a leak! It's coming from where the banjo bolts to the pump. Can anyone confirm if there should be any copper washers or not. As mine did not have any when I took it off?

Should be either a copper or a Dowty washer (round washer with a seal on the internal diameter).

Thanks for the info guys.. Don't suppose any of you know the internal diameter of the washers I need. Otherwise I need to take the bolt out and drain the fluid before I go to work, and I don't fancy that!
