Removing Philips Carin nav system

Any pointers how I can remove the brain from under my passenger swivel seat? Have taken seat out and rotated base but the plate underneath is welded. Can't see for the life of me how they got under there. Thanks in advance.

I guess the answer depends on whether or not you want it out in a usable condition or not.
If "not" I would lever it out with a suitable tool.
Does it slide in from the back of the seat maybe ?

Thanks for your reply! Not bothered about keeping it working. Peering in with a torch I can see it has two "L" shaped brackets on each side bolting it down. Ideally you get to it from above, to unscrew the bolts holding it to the body.

But you cant get to the top because a plate is welded over the top ?
Could you maybe get a think hacksaw blade in to saw through the bolts?
Or chisel them off with a long chisel.
The bolts holding it down may have nuts on the other side visible from underneath the van ?

Possible I'm sure. Just can't work out for the life of me how they got it in there! There must be a more straightforward way.

Nothing showing on the underside unfortunately.

That's what I was afraid off!!!

Maybe they started with the unit and just built the rest of the van around it.

I thought that but they're separate compartments. Might have to get in there with a thin hacksaw blade. Although not convinced it'll reach.

Safe place to sit.
Are you 100% sure the plate on top of it is welded and not screwed or riveted ?
Seems a bit daft for someone to have welded a plate over something that might need to be taken out in the future.
But it looks like thats what happened if you cant find any other way in to the slot.
