How do I refit my power steering belt?

Big lumps of metals and spanners.

How do I refit my power steering belt?

Post by Hdickins »

I've just replaced the alternator on my van.
But somehow (I really don't know how) - the power-steering belt has come adrift and I can't see how to put it back on.
Do I need to take the pump off (how?) and then put it back on again?
It's a JX turbo-diesel.

Sorry to be so dim... ;^( But any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Not a Diesel but my PS pump (which will be similar if not the same as yours) does have an elongated adjustment slot....you have to slacken the bolts on the pump mounting to rotate the pump in order to re-fit the belt, then lever in the opposite direction to tighten....not as obvious as the alternator.

Well that sounds reasonable. I'll see if I can find the slot etc.
Thanks!
