Top ball joint replacement

Post by Dazco »

Had a couple of advisories, cracked perished rubber boots on ball joints. Been reading up about it and looks like it will be a garage job.
Can someone in the know just advise me before I start something I might regret .
If it goes to the garage it will be the first time I've had to pay someone to do a job on jambo
Thanks , Daz

Daz I did mine the other week. You are welcome to come round at the weekend and I'll give you a hand if you like?

Hiya mate, thanks for that , but beer festival this weekend and Masham week after, so don't know when I'll be getting it done . Did you have any trouble splitting it from the arm . Just been quoted around £150 ish to do both sides, not a bad price but about £170 more than I've got :?

I had to use a fork type ball joint separator from MM and gave them some pain! Took about 2hrs tops. Think you should have a go! Good luck

O forgot about the lower nut! What I did is angle grind the bolt thread shorter then heated it up and removed with a socket and long wrench.

Was the show any good? We never go as we think it's over priced or where too tight! We went to Yorkshire wildlife park instead which was "pooh" lol

Bloody expensive is an understatement  I hadn't been for years so was worth it , the dogs enjoyed it aswell. Ill have a look at that nut etc next time I get the chance and then weigh it up as to whether to tackle it or not .
