Leisure battery connection

Hi - Hoping someone can help with a question about battery setup. I have recently bought a T25 Reimo conversion that uses a Zig CF8 control panel. The leisure battery has not been used for several years and I assume it is dead (it had an incorrectly fitted 15a fuse which was blown). When the 12V switch is on the interior lights all work fine. I have tried removing one of the 10a fuses (Zig panel) which is on the lighting circuit and the lights go out as you would expect. What I don't understand is why the lights work if the leisure battery is not connected? (i.e. there is no fuse in the leisure battery circuit) The lights (and 12 V circuits) must be running from the engine battery. Is this normal or is it likely somebody has wired the engine battery to power these circuits in the absence of a usable leisure battery. I want to purchase and fit a new leisure battery but I would like to know that it is wired up correctly first.
Any advice would be much appreciated

The Zig switch marked 'car' or 'caravan' switches between which battery supplies the 12v equipment. On some models it's marked 'site' and 'touring', others charging: 'car' 'mains'

Had a good check now. The lights are running when the 12v switch is on. It makes no difference if the middle switch is set to site or touring. It would seem the wiring has been played around with unless there is another explanation.

Sometimes when a conversion is done to make a van a camper the conversion company/individual will just "tap onto" the existing interior light circuit. This circuit would have originally run off the starter battery so unless they modified it that could be why yours is not connected through the Zig unit and subsequently not connected to the leisure battery. To check this find the fuse under the dash that is for the interior/door/courtesy lights and pull it out then check to see if your camping lights still work.

You need to add the year and engine of your van to your signature to make helping easier.

If you have the early type ceramic fuses it should be number 8 fuse (8 amp)
If you have the later blade fuses it should be number 3 fuse (15 amp)

Thanks for help. I have tried removing the fuse (blade in slot 3). Original lights go out but the strip lights stay on (they are controlled by 10a fuse on Zig panel). Would it be normal for lights to run off Engine battery if the leisure battery is disconnected?
Sorry about leaving off vehicle details. Have updated my signature so hopefully these will appear now - if not I will investigate further.
