What am I missing?

I think my van is missing a couple of grommets - one around the sliding door handle and one around the tailgate lock. Can you help me identify which parts I need?

Tailgate first. My van is a 1983 model, but it's had a new tailgate, and from what the previous owner told me I suspect it may be a tailgate for the later models, but I don't know how to tell. The lock mechanism has been transferred from the original tailgate (the ignition key fits), but there's a gap around the lock button. Can I get a grommet to fill the gap? Brickwerks sell a grommet for the early model, but it doesn't look as though it'll fill the gap that I've got?



Secondly, the sliding door handle. I'm pretty sure my door is the original one (but the handle and lock are new). Brickwerks sell a grommet for the early sliding door, described as being 'For the early models with the "long" sliding door handle'. Is it possible to tell from the photo below whether I've got the "long" handle? (Sorry about the shadows on the photo - it's dark out, I used flash).

The problem is that you have a late tailgate with the early button. There is no grommet for that.

Oh. That explains why my van doesn't have one then. So is it just a case of getting a late model button (secondhand, obviously, looking at the new prices)? Would it fit the rest of my early lock mechanism, and could I transfer the lock barrel?

Alternatively I can't believe I'm the first person to have this combination, so if I wait long enough I'm sure somebody will tell me which T5/Golf/Transit grommet I need to buy to do the job.

What about my sliding door - does that look like a standard early door and handle?
