Dash board disco, part 2.

Post by bradcab »

Had the dash off/out, I ain't no electrician but couldn't see any broken parts of the printed circuit. leaned off what I could.

But its even worse!

Picture this, ignition on.

No head lights, put on fan/heater, glow light flickers.
Hit the brakes glow light comes on and goes off!
throw an indicator in the mix glow light and idicator light flash opposingly!

Head lights on no dash lights but have hi beam light on, indicators and glow light dance still same.

Turn head lights off water temp sensor light flashes, then goes off!

Ignition off,
Switch headlights on, have dash lights, then switcht ignition to 1st ign position to get warning lamps and weyhey!
Looks like Close Encounters meets Blackpool lights!

Earths I know but were are they to check, is there any one like CJ, SB who might have a replcement dash ? Or should I try the junk yards, what should I pay for one?

Its propper fooked init boys!

hi,
I had a simular problem to this and it turned out to be the connector from the wires to the printed cicuit board. Try reaching under the dash and push the plastic connecter to the circit connector It worked on mine.
if it aint broke fix it anyway

may be a diode porblem!! have a look on the pcb for any little blash marks around any components, start at the common earth and work back, if it is a diode then you'll need to get a new one from maplins or the like!
