expansion bottle never had this one before

Post by banana »

At the weekend I checked the overflow tank behind number plate. It was nearly empty! (head gasket oh not agian) This is a 1.6TD recon 1000 miles only so far. So I unpack everything and check expansion bottle. This bottle is literally brim full...phew! Whats going on?

Could be that there was a little air still in the system , fill it up and check it again later in the week.
could be that the rad cap is sucking and not blowing which is not good

Could be that you have a small leak in the heater circuit, you wouldn't notice it in the summer with the heater being off, but now in the winter when you drive around with the heater on you might loos some coolant from that circuit. Might show up as some fluid on the spare wheel carrier.
