what page is the drawing of the cambelt setting on the bentley download? the mind doth gone blank. cheers in advance

It isn't - the 1.9 diesels aren't covered!

Cambelt starts on 2B4 in the Haynes Golf manual for the 1Y etc.

damn. SO where have I seen it then. I've definately seena diagram of the marking points somewhere

reset timing belt.

I never use any marks.
Clutch mark, cambelt locking plate, locking pin for pump and dial gauge for back of pump is the way that I do it.

timing done but still frigging smoking like a 1950s- london bus. has to be head gasket doesn't it?

mainly white but a bit of dirty grey thrown in. ticks mover fine but when throttle appiled its a big smoker. Water bubbling and a film of "pooh" on top
