Hi all,how long to replace the boot and what method?.
Take the diff out?.

I have only ever replaced 6 or so I am not an expert but I perennially wouldn't take the front diff out as there is no need. If you do it on a dry flat surface and didnt run into any dramas it would take about an hour and fifteen.

if youre doing inner and outer boots on both shafts diff out is probably quicker job if its only one side or only outer boot then in place quicker. depends on whether shaft splits easy from shaft.

Thanks Lee,when I did the other outer boot I had to remove the cv as I could'nt split the shaft!!

its not unusual dave, happens on the modern stuff far too often. have to build the shaft backwards then. inner joint off and outer boot on from the inner end.

hi Lee,yes that is what I did on the o/s/f,the n/s/f shaft came apart [after a few taps with a flat ended punch and hammer] so a lot easier to do.
All back together now!!

Cv boots...bliddy nuisance on these vans...Lee...are you referring to vw golf etc shafts? I have a method to get those off.
