Clackety clack ?????

Post by colynmac »

Woke up early to go down to Brighton. Started her up and there was a funny clackety clack noise from the engine??.

Drove down the road about a mile and she was losing power??

The hey hey picked up my sick van and took it to my local VW mechanic who will not be there till Monday to look at it.

Any suggestions as to whats happened/happening???

45,574 things
well slight exageration.
most likely sticky valve lifter valve may be stuck open so cylinder not sealing accounting for your loss of power. Can be done with engine in but its not easy. I take it you are petrol 1.9/2.1? does help to know really.

Thanks guys

I looked on the WIKI site and hacksawbob was right. It looks like a knackered dry bollock lifter.

Thanks again
