Wiper control problem

Post by jeffj »

Had steering column stripped down today and this dropped out when removing lower column cowl.

Recently had intermittant problem with water jet washers?

Could not see anywhere this item would go but wiper arm now has four positions instead of three?

1st position - Nothing.
2nd position - think this should be the off position.
3rd position - 1st speed wipers
4th position - 2nsd speed wipers

Think this is some type of guide which should be inside the multi function switch(wipers/indicators)

Does anyone have any photos of the wiper/indicator assembly which will show this in position?

there is a white plastic pin you pull out to get the extra position of intemittant wipers, just had a look at my spare stalk and it's not like that piece of plastic.

After trying wipers and packing up for day found the white pin on workbench which I had forget to put back in. So just refitted without trying again.

Just been back out and tried wipers and your right it now only has three positions.

Still have no washers though as brass contacts not touching when you pull lever forwards?

Think this other plastic piece might fit in here somewhere to tension up brass contacts?

its off the speedo cable , the clip that secures it when pushed on .

I did originally think it was from the indicator switch , the cancel part , but have had another look.
