I've got an Elite recon DG and think I need to reset the tappets (seems to drain down fairly regularly - say once a month or so - enough to notice). Anyone know whether they use hydraulic or solid lifters in the rebuild?
Also, do I need new rocker cover seals when I do it, and have to change the oil?
Thanks in advance.

Mine drains down over a month of non use... think its fairly standard . What oil are you using? when was it changed last ? There are numerous posts on the best oil to use... I wont open that can of worms !

Re: Quick tappet/lifter question
well if it drains down then it's not going to be a solid lifter
Mine has one that drains down if I start the engine and don't let it get up to temperature.
To be honest I don't think I have ever parked up for a month, you need to get out more

Me either. It gets used at least 3 times a week.
So hydraulic it is. Ta.

Re: Quick tappet/lifter question
Yep I wish I could use it more
there are some interesting threads around regarding ( some will say ) the benefits of using a semi synthetic oil, and that the tappets tend not to drain down so much... Im not overly worried, it gives the neighbours something to moan about, bloody rattly old van parked on the drive blocking the sunlight.. lol.
