Morning all
I recently had the local garage change the atf, gasket and filter. Noticed immediately there was a small leak but didn't get round to taking it back. Checked the level of the ATF yesterday and its very low. Can anyone tell me how to top up?I couldn't find it in the Haynes. thanks for any help

The level should only be checked when the fluid is warm. Drive around for ten mins or so.
Top up through the atf dipstick tube.
The autobox is described in the Bentley manual.

If it's really bad, i'd take it back to the garage that did it, but if you wanted to here's what i did yesterday when i changed my filter.
The gasket is a squarish piece of rubber that if you cut it and looked at the section it would like like: " U "
There is nothing but the bottom plate that holds this piece in place and the slightest shift when holding that plate with one hand and trying to start the 4 corner bolts with the other the gasket easily shifts and you have to take it off "refit" it and try again. 4th time lucky for me.
You add and check the level via the dipstick found on the left side of the engine bay. It's checked when hot and the engine running and in park. Take it for a 5 mile run and check it, but make sure there is fluid in there 1st. Even checking it when cold and not running to ensure there is fluid in there is better then no fluid at all. If it needs to be topped up simply add the new ATF via the dipstick tube using a clean funnel. I believe (but don't quote me) that the two "dots" on the dip stick is about 1 litres worth. So if the fluid is 1/2 way between the dots, add 1/2 litre, and so on. Add a little at a time. If you over fill you will have to drain it out again. You can always add more as needed.
Again, this should be done with the engine running and in Park, with the handbrake on.

Thanks for the advice, duly topped up-Halfords had dexii on the shelf. It was at scarily low level in the van, was better before the vw specialist touched it.
