Idle issue

Post by blankville »

Hi everybody, go easy on me please I'm still learning :-)

We have a 1983 1.9 watercooled t25, automatic. I am struggling to get the van to idle consistantly when it's warm-and it cuts out- being an automatic it's quite tricky to keep the revs up to keep it going or get it off the road as I'm sure you can imagine. The van has a pierberg carb with an auto choke. I have cleaned out the jet as it was suggested to me this might be the prob, still no joy, I also replaced the fuel filter and the idle cut off valve solenoid and the connectors to the solenoid. Regarding the idle valve..should i be getting an audible 'click' every time i turn the key? i mention this as sometimes i dont get the 'click' before I turn her over. I've also noticed that occasionally when I turn the key ( not fully on) and back (off) I am getting a little bit of pinking..only slightly tho.

Just had it out a run there and although I made it home it still felt like it was going to cut out.

Perhaps there is sometime more obvious that you guys could point out to me- any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance
