Hi there,
I need to replace the left cylinder head on my Aircooled 2.0 engine and was wondering ,is it possible to do it with it in situ?

Always do both sides at a time... :wink:

So it is so much easier to work with the engine out, :roll: :roll:

and you will do a better job.. :)

Hey.. anything is possible.. :roll:

Look at the 'Ooops' thread and you will see a pair of CU heads I did this week....

You could always remove the pair and send them to me......

I brought a new one because the one on my van number 3 had the spark plug helicoiled which had come out and to get the tools to to a time sert would of cost the same price as the head I got from vw heritage.

you 'can' do this with the engine in situ however it's a real pain in the jacksy.. you have to bend tinware and fight with the tinware seal etc... dropping the engine is the easiest way if you have the means todo so.

I've just done this on my bus for cylinders 1-2.. that said I've managed to do most jobs on these engines (at somepoint or other) in situ!!
It is by will alone that I set my 'van' in motion!

Cheers for the help , the reason I am asking is because the van is parked on a slope with the engine at the top of the slope and irs a bit of a beast to turn around by pushing it.
