I got European breakdown cover through my insurance (Adrian Flux). The b/down is arranged through Equity Red Star, seems they are the people who do most of the European breakdown cover for various specialist insurance companies, specifically because they can recover large motor-homes, Winebago`s etc, so a T25 is no problem to them they said, when I asked.

Mmm..
and not all breakdown cover is what you expect either..
Just helped a guy out with a syncro doka.. gearbox went, recovered into a local (to him) garage and they changed the clutch and a front driveshaft, when clearly it was the synchro rings on 3rd/4th that had given up.. at least it could be moved in 1,2 & R... when the syncro was finally delivered back to him at his french barn, the box was stuck in 4th and he had a bill for 1400 euros...

I managed to get hold of a 2wd box and fit that for him, at least it will get him home and run around untilthe syncro box is fixed...

Maybe I should offer a recovery/repair service down here..??
You would be more than welcome to make contact in any case..

Have found plenty of companies that will cover a type 25 untill they realize how old it is. I wouldn't bother if I was going on my own or with the lads but im taking the wife an kids on their first french road trip an I dont want any hassel over there if it turns breasticles up!

Thanks for the offer 'toomanytoys', were gonna be around Brittny which I assume is miles away from you. Your right, I dont want to be ripped off by some grease monkey (present company excepted).

Think I'm just being paranoid, coz you all know, 'It'll never happen to me'

Yep... I am a good trek from the north...
Mmm... didnt think to ask for payment!!! maybe thats where I am going wrong.. But trade in skills on the odd occasion it happens..

Have you tried the motorhome mags? or caravan club? think someone mentioned they do it too...

I am lucky.. Franch insurance is cheaper and better and includes breakdown as well.. for the whole of Europe, even covers any driver and as long as you want in any country... :D
