Hi everyone
Ive been a member on here for a few years now so just saying hello and can anyone help please
My DG engine has a coolant leak from the black plastic elbow (025 121 171) at the RH head.
I did just order the gasket but when I was trying to remove the top nut I noticed a crack in the pipe.
I have now ordered the stainless steel replacement pipe from Brickwerks.
Has anyone replaced this pipe before? Might sound like a daft question but how much coolant can I expect to lose when I remove this elbow and any advice on removing the top nut!
cheers
Matthew

Re: DG coolant leak
Expect to lose quite a bit (perhaps a gallon ?) BUT if you stick it's a*** in the air you will lose less and only have the engine bay to bleed up. Personally never had issues undoing those nuts.

Re: DG coolant leak
iirc there is a short joining pipe between that plastic pipe and another metal pipe. may as well change that too
iirc the pipe obsolre from vw but is just standard 25mm hose x 58mm in lengrh

Re: DG coolant leak
When was your coolant last changed?
it's supposed to be replaced every two years

Re: DG coolant leak
Hi there
The short hose looks ok didnt think about replacing it at the time
I had a coolant change (G12) last September when I had new front to rear pipes fitted
New pipe has just arrived this morning but wont have any time to fit it until Friday after work
Have borrowed some ramps to get the back end up
Will let you know how I get on. Hoping its ok as ive got a camping trip planned for Saturday!
Cheers
