New canvas for pop top

Post by Danger76 »

Recently took the plunge and finally got myself a lovely T25 year 1982. I need to replace the canvas for the pop top as the previous owner put in a horrible blue plastic thing. Being new to all this, I don't really know where's best to go. Has anyone got any recommendations?

Which conversion do you have? Put up your details.

If it's a westie there are two different canvas's. The early one is stapled in up to about 1984 and the later one that is fixed to the body with aluminium strips. I bought mine from Gunzl in Germany who are westie specialists, but others do them too.

I`ve just replaced the bellows on mine which is a viking spacemaker, I checked out a couple of sites, (popupparts was one) and don`t doubt that they`re very professional. As it cost nearly £400 and having a long list of other things to buy, I looked around and found a company local to me(Bristol/Bath) who`ve been making and reparing tents etc. for a long time, who took my old one for a template and made one for £140. It fits, looks great, no complaints.

if poss would appreciate the contact details of the company you used, as we also have a viking spacemaker which will need a new bellows sometime in the future. ideally would like a breathable material to cut down on the condensation - it will probably be more than std canvas but using your £140 as a start price it will certainly be worth looking into.

Hello, the company is Kingswood canvas, Kingswood, Bristol, if you do a search on line you`ll find them easily. The material they used is not breathable but is cotton backed to eliminate condensation and there are also the two air vents either end, which I suppose if I`d thought about it I could have asked to be made larger, possibly. There is a choice of three colours beige, dark grey and light grey. I found them to very helpful and friendly and, if you offered to pay more or if there were enough demand they may offer more choice of colours, who knows?. Hope this helps.
