power sockets

in my cali westy i have two strange sockets one on the dash and another below rear seats they look like ciggarette type sockets but smaller can you get an adapter for them to convert to uk style 12v sockets if so what are they called

It sounds like a "Hella"socket to me and the adapters are available.

Hi guys...I don't know about the rear one, that's probably been added but I can confirm that theses are the Hella European Din type.

I took mine out, opened the hole up a little (only by a couple of millimetres) then fitted a much more useful cigarette style socket..takes about 15 minutes and the wiring pretty much swaps over.

Metal bodied one like this....remembering that the dash is earthed (made of metal) so only needs a positive feed wire to work.

Probably not. One way to find out, though... <grin> Multimeter! If you're careful, you should be able to poke the +ve probe down the centre of the socket, and the other to earth. Or take the glovebox out, and see if you can get to the wiring for it from beneath.

I think the one on the dash was for a snake light for map reading
