My 1990 Tin top Project!

Post by benn_moon »

The story so far...

My friend had purchased like most owners for him and the mrs to get away every now and again and have the delightful task of renovating her back to full health :)

So they purchased the best example that needed light restoration it had a few marks on the bodywork and as usual some half measured repairs from the previous owners that though when equipped with a tin of spray paint and a DIY tub of filler that they are now qualified as a professional sprayer.. :)

It hadn't long a had a engine restoration by a local specialist and secured by this, they made the purchase!

So it Wasn't long before its dreaded MOT was due.... took her down for test and... passed with Flying colors!! for people whos mechanical Knowledge ends at locating the dip stick they had done exceptionally well to find such a nice solid example!! said the mot tester!

So they started working on the inside.. purchased a leisure battery to run a split relay.. bought a fancy cooker / sink and....

They unfortunately decided to split up! :/

So Months down the line and following the divorce ( where actually just dating ) he gained custody of the her! :) again due to lack of knowledge and now motivation he decided to sell her! :( so it turns out his sales skills are again as good as his mechanical skills and following quite a bit of interest and people trying to knock money off! because they where traveling to buy or they have just purchased something else and now they haven't got as much money but didn't wanna miss out.. bla bla he did not sell her! then not really though of the idea of being a T25 owner he managed to persuade me to buy it to restore as a promotional vehicle :)

So i needed to pick up a sunbed for my shop, so i thought there's a nice 450 mile round trip to see what its like! surprisingly haven never driven a van of this age was gob smacked as it drove like a modern vehicle?? its Sharpe and tight through the corners, and other than the steering being a little heavy road noise being a little loud? but then given its a bare cab i was more than impressed! 70mph no bother all the way pulled over picked up the sunbed and away we where not one spot of bother!!

so impressed i booked her in for a full inspection with my local body shop to start poking round to see what gremlins where in the body work...
