Ok. 1.9 AAZ engine that I fitted last year runs well, but burns oil. Rate is about 1l/1000km. I realise that this is probably within acceptable limits, consumption-wise, but the thing that worries me is that it seems to be being burned to the point where I can smell it as I'm driving along, especially when the engine is under load.
I get blue smoke on start up in the morning, which is probably valve-guide oil seals, but of course this wouldn't account for the level of consumption, as the smoke disappears when there's heat in the engine.
Will it be turbo seals?

if the turbo seals are failing and leaking oil then you will get lots of blue smoke as it deposits oil into the inlet, this is bad, about as bad as it can get and can lead to it running away uncontrollably until something breaks or it uses all the oil,it uses the oil as fuel and cannot be switched off, will need to be stalled.

Hm. Don't think it can be that then. Must be something else. It does do blue smoke when cold, but since this disappears when the engine has any heat at all in it, I assume this is valve guide seals.
I do wonder where the oil is burning from (/to), though.
